Culture LightZ

Culture LightZ is a project of Island CultureZ that aims to help Da Island community thrive.

Culture LightZ is a self-determination tool in partnership with Thrive Lights. This platform allows communities to set their own indicators of well-being, self-assess individuals and families, and name priority areas for desired improvements. Resources can then be highlighted and shared, areas of need can be identified, and communities can work together to create action plans for collective improvments and even policy change. This process has been implemented globally to great effect and is facilitated and supported by both Culture LightZ & Thrive Lights staff.

How Does Culture LightZ Work?

Culture LightZ has five steps:

  1. CREATE: Create a tool that can collect community wants, needs, and indicators of community well-being.

  2. GUIDE: Guide families and other community members through the self-assessment process.

  3. DISCUSS: Analyze and discuss the results together and build solutions as a community.

  4. APPLY: Implement solutions together.

  5. REPEAT: Facilitate the self-assessment again the following year to review community progress.
